Mercator Ocean International développe des activités d'océanographie opérationnelle depuis près de 30 ans, dans le cadre de sa mission d’intérêt général de préservation de l'océan.

A Propos Du Poste
Dans le cadre du Jumeau Numérique Européen de l’Océan (EDITO - https://edito.eu), initiative phare de l’Union Européenne visant à développer et exploiter un jumeau numérique de l’océan performant et accessible, Mercator Ocean International (MOi) recrute un(e) Architecte Infrastructure et Cloud (F/H).
Cette plateforme innovante combine des observations en temps réel, de la modélisation avancée, des outils d’intelligence artificielle et des infrastructures Cloud/HPC afin de transformer la connaissance des océans en informations exploitables et de soutenir des décisions éclairées pour une planète bleue durable.
En tant qu’expert(e) en infrastructure et en cloud, vous gérerez et maintiendrez l’infrastructure cloud d’EDITO, en garantissant sa scalabilité, sa sécurité et ses performances. Vous superviserez le déploiement, le suivi et l’optimisation des ressources, vous résoudrez les problèmes et appliquerez les bonnes pratiques liées aux systèmes cloud, afin d’assurer une haute disponibilité et une gestion rentable des coûts.
Vous Serez Plus Particulièrement En Charge De
- Définir l’infrastructure cloud et ses évolutions pour garantir les performances d’EDITO, en intégrant les dimensions réseau et cybersécurité en lien avec le(la) responsable dédié(e).
- Assurer le suivi des activités sous-traitées liées au maintien opérationnel de l’infrastructure et des services, en optimisant la gestion des ressources cloud, des coûts et du bon fonctionnement des API et services d’EDITO.
- Contribuer à la rédaction des documents techniques de marchés publics (cahiers des charges, conditions particulières, etc.) et participer à l’analyse et l’évaluation des propositions.
- Garantir l’interopérabilité de la plateforme EDITO avec d’autres infrastructures européennes et internationales (par exemple Destination Earth et EOSC), afin de fiabiliser l’échange et l’intégration de données.
- Développer et maintenir les interfaces et API nécessaires en conformité avec les formats, protocoles d’accès et standards de métadonnées des infrastructures de données marines et environnementales.
- Participer activement aux groupes de travail européens, forums techniques et groupes de réflexion sur l’interopérabilité pour aligner l’architecture cloud d’EDITO sur les politiques européennes, les principes de science ouverte et les pratiques FAIR.
- Mettre en place des mécanismes sécurisés et fédérés d’accès et d’authentification des utilisateurs aux différentes plateformes.
Au-delà de ces missions, vous aurez l’occasion d'apporter votre support sur d'autres sujets selon l'actualité du service, en collaborant avec les ingénieurs et les scientifiques océanographes de Mercator Ocean International afin de comprendre leurs besoins, d’y répondre et de les accompagner dans leur adaptation à la plateforme EDITO.
Les Atouts Pour Réussir
Vous êtes titulaire d'un BAC+5 en informatique, diplôme d’ingénieur ou équivalent avec une expérience professionnelle de 7 ans minimum.
Nous Recherchons Des Candidat(e)s
- Ayant de l’expérience pratique dans le déploiement et l’exploitation d’applications cloud sur divers fournisseurs, en utilisant des outils de déploiement, de provisioning et d’orchestration (Docker, Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, Nomad ou Apache Mesos).
- Ayant une bonne maitrise des outils de développement continu tels que Git, GitLab, Bash et Jenkins.
- Pouvant réaliser des tâches variées et curieux(ses) des nouvelles technologies.
- Ayant une bonne connaissance des outils de supervision et d’alerte de services.
- Capables de travailler en méthode Agile avec une approche Devops, valorisant la programmation en binôme et orienté(e)s utilisateurs.
- Maîtrisant l’anglais écrit et parlé.
- Faisant preuve de leadership et de capacité à négocier et à fédérer les parties prenantes de projets.
Votre esprit d’équipe et votre capacité à garder une vision globale du projet contribueront directement à la réussite des missions confiées.

About The Job
As part of the European Digital Twin of the Ocean (EDITO - https://edito.eu), the EU’s flagship initiative to develop and operate a powerful, open digital twin of the ocean, Mercator Ocean International (MOi) is recruiting an Infrastructure and Cloud Architect (W/M).
This innovative platform combines real-time observations, advanced modelling, AI tools, and cloud/HPC infrastructure to transform ocean knowledge into actionable information and support informed decisions for a sustainable blue planet.
As an infrastructure and cloud expert, you will manage and maintain EDITO’s cloud infrastructure, ensuring its scalability, security, and performance. You will oversee the deployment, monitoring, and optimization of resources, troubleshoot issues, and implement best practices for cloud-based systems, ensuring high availability and cost-efficiency.
You Will Be More Specifically In Charge Of
- Defining the cloud infrastructure and its evolution to ensure EDITO’s performance, integrating network and cybersecurity aspects in collaboration with the dedicated manager.
- Monitoring subcontracted activities related to infrastructure and service operations, optimizing cloud resource management, costs, and the proper functioning of EDITO’s APIs and services.
- Contributing to the drafting of technical documentation for public procurement (statement of work, special conditions, etc.) and participating in the analysis and evaluation of proposals.
- Ensuring the interoperability of the EDITO platform with other European and international infrastructures (like Destination Earth or EOSC platforms), to enable reliable data exchange and integration.
- Developing and maintaining interfaces and APIs in line with the formats, access protocols, and metadata standards of marine and environmental data infrastructures.
- Actively participating in European working groups, technical forums, and interoperability task forces to align EDITO’s cloud architecture with European policies, open science principles, and FAIR data practices.
- Implementing secure and federated user access and authentication mechanisms across the different platforms.
Beyond these missions, you will also have the opportunity to support other activities depending on the service’s needs, collaborating with the engineers and oceanographic scientists at Mercator Ocean International to understand their requirements, address them, and assist their adaptation to the EDITO platform.
Assets For Success
You have a MSc. degree or an engineering degree in computer science or equivalent, with at least 7 years of professional experience.
We Are Looking For Candidates
- With hands-on experience in deploying and operating cloud applications across various cloud providers using tools for deployment, provisioning, and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, Nomad, or Apache Mesos).
- Familiar with continuous development tools such as Git, GitLab, Bash and Jenkins.
- Able to perform a variety of tasks and curious about new technologies.
- Familiar with service monitoring and alerting tools.
- Able to work in Agile methodologies with a DevOps approach, who value pair programming and who are user-oriented.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Who demonstrate leadership, as well as the ability to negotiate and bring together project stakeholders.
Your team spirit and ability to maintain a global vision of the project will directly contribute to the success of the assigned missions.
